Uk onshore oil and gas industry

Industrial radioactivity in the UK's onshore oil and gas industry 2017-04-12T15:44:43Z (GMT) by Joel Garner Naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM) is a common feature in North Sea oil and gas production offshore but, to date, has been reported from only one production site onshore in the United Kingdom. The UK Oil & Gas Chaplaincy provides pastoral and spiritual care to Britain's oil industry, particularly to those working offshore. And we have done so since 1988. We welcome anyone, regardless their denomination or faith, or none.

Onshore extraction The onshore oil and gas industry in the UK has been in existence for for over 150 years. This experience has allowed the Industry to develop established drilling and hydraulic fracturing (fracking) techniques. To date, around 2,000 wells have now been drilled onshore of which 10% of them have been hydraulically fractured. About UKOOG UKOOG is the representative body for the UK onshore oil and gas industry including exploration and production. The organisation’s objectives are to: enhance the profile of the whole onshore industry (both conventional and unconventional); The OGA regulates the licensing of exploration and development of England’s onshore oil and gas resources, and it has strict controls in place to ensure that operators manage the risk of induced seismicity from such operations. Development of the Onshore Oil & Gas Industry in the UK Shale gas in the United Kingdom has attracted increasing attention since onshore shale gas production was proposed. A number of wells have been drilled, but as of December 2014, there has been no commercial production of shale gas in the UK. UK onshore oil production fell to a seven-year low in 2018, according to official  data. Figures from the Oil & Gas Authority released this month revealed that total onshore oil production in 2018 dropped 3% to 947,453m3, down from 977,280m3 in 2017. This continued a general downward trend for the past 20 years. The UK's oil and gas industry makes a substantial contribution to the country's energy security and economy. However, the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS), a mature oil producing area, has been negatively affected by the sustained period of low oil and gas prices since 2014. The Oil and Gas Authority (OGA), created in 2015, acts as the oil and gas sector's independent regulator. Its role is to regulate, influence and promote the oil and gas industry, in order to maximise the economic recovery of the UK's oil and gas resources. The OGA regulates the licensing of exploration and development of the UK's offshore and onshore oil and gas resources, gas storage and unloading activities.
